The MK-3 2019 wave-twintip.
For enjoying kitesurfing - great turns - big jumps - cruising the Islands and super smooth comfort , in 2004 we took a standard twintip and cut the outline to an elliptical shape, made a few tweaks to the underside dynamics and "bingo" we had an incredible kiteboard , following high demand we finally introduced the wave-twintip for global sales in 2014. This MK-3 version is developed from the 2014 edition and polishes an already harmonic shape , small modifications have been made to the MK-3 version further enhancing ride dynamics.
Add to the equation Nomad's amazing use of carbon fiber , huge precision flex and lightweight high strength construction. Every detail tweaked to the clients riding style , a true custom built kiteboard , a highly modern twintip miles ahead of anything else in the kitesurfing market.
In terms of on the water feeling the wave-twintip is exactly the same as a standard rectangle style twintip , for jumping and grip the same , however the wave-twintip has a huge advantage - no tips to catch in the turns , better upwind and top speed control because of the very efficient elliptical outline.
Who is it for...
The wave-twintip is easy access to the waves and carving , yes in a perfect world a surfboard might be better in feeding a fully carved bottom turn , however to master a surfboard in the turns and the gybes takes hours of on the water practice. The wave-twintip is plug and play and enormously rewarding in any condition.
The elliptical outline has no negative effects apart from looking different on the beach, positives are many - carving without catching the corner tips, and zero water pickup are two obvious examples. From beginners to pro's the wave-twintip is fun and a confidence inspiring kiteboard.

Beautiful on the outside , rocket science on the inside.
Carbon fiber can be flexible - it can be rigid - its all in the shape and design. Nomad uses carbon fiber with flex to control the shape of the board , think of the flex like a spring , imagine a car with no suspension - very uncomfortable and not controllable. The carbon fiber is flexing , absorbing , quickly adjusting to the movement of the water surface , the result is a smooth efficient passage through the water leaving the rider to focus on kitesurfing and pushing the limits.
The first feedback you get from any Nomad rider is how the board is so smooth , "it feels like you are riding on air"
The Nomad wave-twintip range uses carbon in all its models , the more expensive models use a higher carbon content which allows Nomad to be more exact with the flex and even position carbon in key areas. The result is an even smoother and precise ride with the high end models.
Don't forget the weight aspect , the amazing feeling of riding a lightweight kiteboard can never be underestimated. The weight of each kiteboard is directly customized to the riders weight. Nomad will build a twinip for a 50 kilo rider lighter in weight than a twintip built for a 100 kilo rider. In safety terms Nomad builds a twintip about double the strength needed for the riders weight giving years of use and a highly guaranteed product.
Carbon fiber is a very strong material , one of its key aspects is weight to strength ratio, to support the carbon fiber further Nomad uses Kevlar and Dyneema to guarantee strength and absorb high impact loads and distribute forces across the entire kiteboard structure. The Carbon C-Wave and Carbon CC-Wave both use Kevlar in the laminates , the Carbon CCS-Wave uses Dyneema a composite hybrid used for kite lines and many military applications. The Carbon CCS-Wave uses Dyneema to create an extremely strong and lightweight kiteboard , only this combination of Carbon-Dyneema can achieve this bullet proof construction with advanced vibration absorbing dynamics , and unfortunately explains the twintips high price.
Some quick weight examples , a CCS-Wave at 148 for a 80 kilo rider weighs 1,6 kilos , the Carbon-wave at 142 for a 100 kilo rider weighs 2,3 kilos.

Race winning performance.
The Nomad wave-twintip showed its easily controllable speed and efficient hull design by winning the 2017 "Red Bull Lighthouse to Leighton race".
The Nomad was the first twintip to finish easily beating Aaron Hadlow who finished second.

Comfort , Comfort - the very important footstrap positions
Footstrap positions
The major advantage of custom building kiteboards is personalizing to the mm the positions of the footstraps , many riders end up with footstrap positions as it came in the box. Nomad offers 18 years of experience to position the straps exactly comfortable for the client. The strap positions is all about comfort , its not important the size of the board or the discipline you are riding. After 2 hours of kitesurfing incorrect positions can start to tell , problems with knees and ankles can easily be sorted by well placed footstraps.
During the ordering process Nomad carefully looks at positions used on a clients previous kiteboard and makes any recommendations needed. Multiple positions are also a great idea and free of charge.
The very best kiteboard construction has to have the very best footstrap-pad set.
There is no alternative to thickness of foam, the more material the better and safer is the riders comfort. The Nomad pads are 40mm thick using various density's of foam to absorb impacts and deliver a highly cushioned ride.
The entire pad assembly sits on an ABS plate which has multiple options to find the perfect position.
Highly flexible and comfortable footstraps which move and twist with the foot, 100% contact between the strap and foot supporting the foot perfectly.

Nomad has tested a wide variety of straps and continually goes back to this outstanding design built from the highest quality materials and production processes.

The price quoted on all models includes Nomad straps and pads , ABS handle , G10 48mm fins.
Graphic colors and design options at no extra charge on the Carbon CCS-Wave , Carbon CC-Wave and the top side of the Carbon C-Wave. Emails, telephone numbers and personal info can also be included in the graphic sets free of charge. Clients can choose there own graphic ideas and designs , extra charges can apply.

2019 Mutant 138 to 148 and any size in-between , width according to riders weight.
A classic directional kiteboard made famous in the early years of kiteboarding by Flash Austin and Adam Koch riding the original "Naish Mutant".
We first built these iconic boards back in 2002 , since then we have continued to sell this model in limited numbers to expert riders.
This kiteboard requires skill and needs to be gybed to optimize its performance , the rider needs to be fast on the feet and slot in a quick gybe or tack by changing to the other side of the board , much the same as a surf board although on a smaller platform. Riding as a twintip is possible but one direction is always going to be comprised due to the straps being offset to the rear of the board. However due to the offset straps carving in the forward direction is easy , a similar carving ability can be found in the wave-twintip by using a small board length.
Overall the wave-twintip is a much easier platform to use with a much more broad range of performance advantages , if you are prepared to master the art of gybing -on your toes and quick- the carving ability of the mutant is rewarding.
Good design is in the details.
The Nomad "Mutant style" kiteboard uses the Nomad carbon fiber reactive construction , the board has the same flex system as the Nomad twintips , super smooth ride through chop in a highly reactive construction. The rocker curve has the best carve and grip and is always the first to get going in lightwinds and the last to stay on the water in high winds - Tarifa style...
The mutant uses the same innovative undershape as our twintips but on both rails , undershape uses a 12mm hooked concave on either rail with a flat section in the middle to keep switching fast and flowing.
The rear fin setup uses a quad fin system keeping the rear fins small so they don't catch when riding the board backwards , a special ABS frame within the carbon construction supports the 4 fins against flex whilst carving hard in the turns. The center fins are optional.

2019 Mutant construction
The Nomad "Mutant" uses the Carbon CC build system costing 1305,00 euros , the torsional carbon inlays are off-set with the strap position keeping the torsion control exactly between the straps. Pads are 20mm thick and fixed , board complete with 8 fins and Nomad wave centered footstraps.
Kiteboard only weight around the 2 kilo mark depending on rider weight.
